October birthstone is Tourmaline and Opal

Tourmaline has become a favorite gemstone among jewelry designers, and gem collectors the world over. Since it is available in a wide variety of colors, it is ideally suited to almost anyone’s taste. October’s Tourmaline also is known for displaying several colors in the same gemstone.  Tourmaline gems are formed in many combinations and gems with clear color distinctions are highly prized and quite expensive now as their popularity has grown in recent years.  The most common tourmalines are; Pink tourmaline, Chrome (green) tourmaline and Paraiba (blue) tourmaline.    Tourmaline is found in many localities including Brazil, Afghanistan, East Africa, and the USA.

The color of your tourmaline will determine which Chakra center it will support.  Chrome (green) tourmaline connects to the Higher Heart Chakra.  Pink tourmaline will connect to the Root Chakra, and Paraiba (blue) tourmaline will support your Throat Chakra.
